Dear Colleagues,
UC Davis Health prides itself in being a health system of the future for our diverse patients and workforce. Our vision is to provide tomorrow’s health care today. One way we are delivering on that vision is by investing in state-of-the-art facilities that will serve the needs of all who seek high-quality care.
The impacts of construction are being felt by us all, so I wanted to share some highlights about how this current wave of building will benefit our collective future. By 2030, UC Davis Health’s Sacramento campus will grow from today’s 3.6 million square feet of building space to over 7 million square feet. This doubling of the campus in less than eight years is the largest health system capital expansion in the United States today.
We call this investment “Vision 2030.”
Vision 2030 is much more than an expansion of our facilities on the Sacramento campus and surrounding communities; it is a long-term investment in our people. UC Davis Health’s staff, recognized as among the best in the country, deserve facilities that match their excellence. David Lubarsky, M.D., M.B.A., our CEO and vice chancellor of human health sciences, makes this point when he says, “We will have buildings and facilities that are the equal to our physicians and nurses.” However, “right now, we’re better than the buildings we practice in.”
The buildings currently being constructed as part of Vision 2030 will host a diversity of programs and service lines, including:
These aren’t all of the changes and improvements underway, but they are some of the largest ones. We’re also building a brand-new medical office building in Folsom and looking at improvements for several of outpatient clinics in the surrounding areas.
All of these are part of Facilities’ Vision 2030 project to upgrade and renew our care locations. The video linked here was created to illustrate the story of our growth and to show the highlights and improvements underway on the Sacramento campus.
Yours in health,
Jason Nietupski
