Kriti Iyer

Junior Specialist (2024-present)

Kriti graduated from UC Davis in March 2024 with a major in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior and minor in Public Health. She is interested in exploring retinal research further before applying to medical school and aims for a career as a physician-scientist. When not in lab, Kriti loves to go on walks, dance, and try different desserts!

Shaheen Sulthana Mohammad

Staff Research Associate (2021-present)

Shaheen Sulthana is a Staff Research Associate, and she completed her PhD and Postdoctoral studies in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. She loves the constant learning process of research. Outside lab, she likes to cook and prefers to spend time with family and friends.

Carol Iveth Villafuerte Trisolini

Postdoctoral Researcher (2022-present)

Carol is a second-year postdoc specializing in translational retinal research at the Yiu lab. Originally from Peru, Carol began her career as an ophthalmologist with a specialization in retina. Her current research focuses on bridging the gap between clinical insights and cutting-edge research in the field of age-related macular degeneration, aiming to advance understanding and treatment options for this prevalent eye condition.

Sophie Le

Graduate Student (2024-present)

Sophie is a second year PhD student in the Graduate Group of Integrative Pathobiology with a Designated Emphasis in Biotechnology. She attended UC Davis for her undergraduate degree and majored in Animal Science. She is interested in researching AMD in multiple animal models. She is currently aiming towards a career in industry. In her free time, she likes to spend time with her cats, work out, make stained glass, DJ, and try new foods. 

Trisha Jaishankar

Trisha Jaishankar is an undergraduate senior at UC Davis studying Biotechnology and Public Health Sciences on the Pre-Optometry track. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, golfing, and spending time with family/friends!

Jack Dragoli

Undergraduate Student (2023-present)

Jack is a fourth year Medical Microbiology major at University of California, Davis. He is interested in studying medicine/immunology and orphan diseases. Outside of academics, he likes to build model kits, go fishing, and collect hats. His favorite movie is "A Few Good Men."

Sruthi Ramesh Kumar

Sruthi is a fourth year undergraduate student at UC Davis currently majoring in Molecular and Medical Microbiology with a minor in Public Health. She currently aspires to work in the healthcare field as a physician. When she's not in the lab, you can find her baking, watching movies, and singing. 

Youcef Sahraoui

Youcef is an undergraduate majoring in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior, aiming for a career in the medical field. When he's not in the lab or studying for exams, you can find him playing soccer, gaming with friends, and trying new cuisines. 

Aurora Duan

Aurora is a third year undergraduate majoring in Biological Sciences and Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies. She enjoys traveling, drawing, cooking, and taking pictures of clouds and sunsets. 

Tony Shen

Tony is an undergraduate student at Muhlenberg College majoring in biology. In his free time, he enjoys reading, spending time with his family and friends, working out, and playing electric guitar.

Sonya Ahuja

Sonya is a fourth-year undergraduate at UC Davis studying Human Biology. In her free time, she enjoys swimming, working out, baking, and spending quality time with family and friends.

Navin Chakravarty

Navin is a fourth-year undergraduate at UC Davis studying neurobiology, physiology, and behavior on a pre-medical track. In his free time, he enjoys playing and watching sports, working out, spending time with family/friends, and traveling.

Angel is currently an undergraduate Systems and Synthetic Biology major. In her free time she loves to crochet, read novels, paint and take care of her plants. 

Doaa Mohammad

Doaa is a freshman majoring in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior. She have a deep passion for neuroscience and is on the pre-med track to go into medical school. Beyond academic pursuits, she enjoys reading, exploring the outdoors, hanging out with friends and engaging in activities that blend her love for science with her appreciation for nature.
