Cancer
Resource Center opens
Music, refreshments
and a talk by former oncology nurse and humorist Patty Wooten marked
the grand opening of the UC Davis Cancer Resource Center, located
in the lobby of the cancer building. Laura Russell, a former UC
Davis Cancer Center patient and lymphoma survivor, provided guitar
music.
Wooten is an
inspirational speaker and owner of Jest for the Health Of It, a
company devoted to promoting therapeutic uses of humor. She is author
of two best-selling books, "Heart Humor and Healing" and
"Compassionate Laughter: Jest for Your Health," and has
appeared on such TV shows as NBC's Real Life, The Dis-covery Channel,
and Good Morning L.A..
The newly renovated
resource center offers a big screen television and VCR as well as
books, magazines, audio and videotapes and Internet access to cancer
patients and their families. It also serves as a site for other
patient activities, including a monthly lecture series on topics
ranging from alternative medicine to sexuality.
