Jacqueline Louise LeCouteur, a postgraduate researcher at the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine,
died April 27 after a long battle with breast cancer. LeCouteur studied brain tumors in the laboratory
of her husband, Richard LeCouteur, a professor of surgical and radiological sciences at the veterinary
school.
"Jackie was such an impres- sive woman, with so much energy and such a zest for life," says
Jeanine Stiles, associate director of the UC
Davis Cancer Center. "We are very grateful for all her contributions to the cancer program while
she was with us."
During the last year of her life, Jacqueline LeCouteur volunteered her time to begin a holiday card tradition
at the UC Davis Cancer Center. Her
goal was to raise money for research at the Cancer
Center through sale of the cards.
In her memory, the card sale will begin this fall. The cards feature seasonal artwork by UC
Davis Cancer Center patients. One of the designs, of a smiling snowman, is LeCouteur's own. Pins featuring
her snowman are also for sale.
Pins are $3 apiece. Packages of 10 cards and envelopes are $10. "Seasons Greetings" appears
inside the cards. Both cards and pins may be purchased in room 3003 of the UC
Davis Cancer Center, 4501 X Street, Sacramento. For more information, please call (916) 734-5800.
