Keaton
Raphael Memorial
Keaton
Raphael had his dad’s big brown eyes and thick lashes, his
mom’s delicate features, and an impish grin all his own. The
Roseville boy lost his battle with neuroblastoma in February 1998
at age five, but his parents keep his memory alive through the Keaton
Raphael Memorial.
This year alone Robyn and Kyle Raphael raised $20,000 to support
pediatric cancer research at UC Davis Cancer Center through the
foundation that bears their son’s name.
And that’s just their latest contribution. Over the past four
years, the foundation has contributed a “Fun Center,”
a wheeled cart equipped with TV, VCR and Nintendo 64, to the pediatric
stem cell transplant program at UC Davis Cancer Center; donated
toys and a play structure to the nearby Ronald McDonald House; supported
the pediatric pain management program at UC Davis Children’s
Hospital; and awarded cash grants to local families to defray non-medical
costs incurred when a child is diagnosed with cancer.
