Model workplace distinctions

UC Davis Health’s success as a large health care employer is directly tied to the many efforts that have cultivated a model workplace across the organization. These achievements have previously earned the health system a Forbes’ distinction as a Best Employer in the State, Best Employer for Diversity, and Best Employer for Women, as well as Newsweek’s selection as one of the Greatest Workplaces for Families in the country.

One of UC Davis Health’s workplace enhancements involved a feedback survey last year. Employees indicated they had a 'very high likelihood of recommending their employer as a great place to work’— one of Forbes’ criteria in their methodology.

Also relevant is UC Davis Health’s competitive benefits package available to employees, including tuition reimbursement, financial planning, employee discounts, lactation support, generous paid time off, and low-cost primary care and childcare.

Comprehensive programs that help combat burnout include mental health support, parental and catastrophic leave, robust health and wellness resources, and cohesive programs dedicated to Staff and Faculty Health and Well-being and work-life balance.

Employee evaluations

According to the publication, the most recent Forbes list was based on an independent survey of over 160,000 employees working for companies employing at least 500 people within the U.S. The survey was open to companies from all industry sectors, and around 4.4 million employer evaluations were analyzed.

An employer's final score is determined on a state-by-state basis and is built upon two types of employee evaluations:

  • Personal evaluations — employees' willingness to recommend their own employers to friends and family.
  • Public evaluations — recommendations from friends and family members of employees or members of the public who work in the same industry.
