Marc Dall’Era is the new chair of the Dept. of Urologic Surgery.
“Dr. Dall’Era is a highly respected clinician and researcher who has made many impactful contributions to his field,” said UC Davis School of Medicine Dean Susan Murin. “The Department of Urologic Surgery has grown and thrived under his leadership and I’m excited to see the department reach new heights, further benefitting our patients and trainees.”
Dall’Era specializes in the management of urinary tract cancers. His research interests include using MRI imaging to detect and evaluate prostate cancer. His focus also includes biomarker discovery and validation in cancer patients. He is a principal investigator on several clinical trials, including those for men with high-risk prostate cancer and has pioneered focal therapy of early-stage disease.
After graduating from UC Davis with a bachelor’s degree in 1995, he obtained his medical degree at the UC Davis School of Medicine in 2000. Dall'Era then completed his residency in urology at the University of Washington in 2006 and a fellowship in urologic oncology at UC San Francisco in 2008. Shortly after, he joined UC Davis Health.
As the department chair, Dall’Era provides administrative and strategic leadership in all departmental missions, working cooperatively with faculty, staff, trainees, students and other colleagues.
