The International Society for Quality in Health Care established the academy in 2018 to recognize those who have made significant contributions to the field of quality and safety in health care. The IAQS Academy recognizes excellence of leadership within research, academia or service delivery in quality and safety in health care. Academy membership is for life and there are about 100 members.

“It's an honor to be elected to the IAQS and join a network of distinguished leaders in the field of health care quality and patient safety,” Shaikh said. “I look forward to learning and growing from this community and collaborating with them to drive improvements in the quality and safety of health care worldwide.”

Shaikh’s expertise lies in measuring performance in health care and supporting clinicians in designing, implementing and evaluating quality improvement initiatives. She has led training and coaching programs in health care quality improvement methods for public, private and academic organizations. She is a steadfast advocate for improving the quality of care for children in outpatient and inpatient settings.

The International Society for Quality in Health Care is a global organization whose mission is to inspire and drive improvement in the quality and safety of health care worldwide through education and knowledge sharing, external evaluation, supporting health systems and connecting people through global networks.
