Philosophy of Care

Outstanding patient care requires both the expert treatment of disease and a compassionate focus on family. As a physician (and mother), I believe that optimizing the health of your child’s eyes begins by establishing a warm and supportive relationship with you. As your partner, I will provide open communication, clear instruction, and the creation of an environment where your child feels safe, respected, and may have a little fun! I became a pediatric ophthalmologist because I love working with families, and I pledge to care for your child as if he/she/ze/they were my own.

Clinical Interests

Dr. Estrada is a pediatric ophthalmologist who provides medical and surgical care for children (and some adults) with a wide range of congenital and acquired eye and vision problems, including eye misalignment (strabismus), abnormal eye movements (nystagmus), “lazy eye” (amblyopia), tearing problems, eyelid inflammation (blepharitis, chalazion), and congenital ocular abnormalities (e.g. microphthalmia). She has special clinical interest in congenital and juvenile cataracts, retinopathy of prematurity, and pediatric uveitis. She champions innovative, compassionate, and personalized care to optimize the ocular health and visual development of her patients.

Research/Academic Interests

Dr. Estrada’s research focuses on retinopathy of prematurity treatment and reducing ocular health disparities in underserved, low-income, and minority pediatric populations. She is passionate about training the next generation of ophthalmologists and sharing, with them, her enthusiasm for working with children and volunteering in underserved communities. She is an active member of the American Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus and currently serves on the Young Ophthalmologist Committee for this organization.
