UC Davis Medical Center Dietetic Internship
About Our Program
The UC Davis Medical Center Dietetic Internship (DI) is a 10-month (42 week), full-time, hospital based program with a concentration in Clinical Nutrition within a Specialized Academic Health System.
The majority of intern learning experiences take place at UC Davis Medical Center and its hospital clinics and Community Practice Groups (primary care). Community nutrition experiences are scheduled at selected sites in the Sacramento Valley area. The dietetic internship is managed by the Department of Food and Nutrition Services, which is housed within the Hospital Administration Division of UC Davis Health. UC Davis Health, along with the UC Davis Campus, is a part of the larger University of California and overseen by the Regents of the University of California. UC Davis Health plays a pivotal role in the delivery of health care to the inland Northern California. The medical center, located in Sacramento, is a large, tertiary care teaching hospital that provides the highest level of specialty care in the region.
Upon satisfactory completion of the internship, DI graduates are eligible to become active members of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and to sit for the Registration Examination for Dietitians administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
