UC Davis Medical Center Nursing Grand Rounds aim to connect nurses and our interdisciplinary colleagues at UC Davis Health with resources that support research, inquiry, innovation, and evidence-based implementation to advance nursing science, professional practice, and patient and family care. All nurses and healthcare professionals are welcome to participate.
Attendees will hear about real-life legal case reviews involving nursing practice and patient care. This session will examine the processes involved in case evaluation, expert testimony, case outcomes, and resulting changes to practice or policy. Through a legal lens, participants will explore the implications of professional accountability, documentation standards, communication, and systems-level safety improvements. The goal is to foster critical reflection and a culture of learning that promotes high-reliability care, patient safety, and professional integrity.
