“Why is it important to wear a mask?” UC Davis students, employees and faculty submitted more than 200 entries to answer that question during the “Every Aggie Together” Mask Contest, co-sponsored by the Center for Healthcare Policy and Research (CHPR) and Campus Ready. Participants posted their unique photos, artwork or videos to their personal Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter accounts. Judges, representing UC Davis faculty, staff and graduate students from a range of UC Davis departments, including Agricultural and Resource Economics, Communication, Design, Emergency Medicine, Family and Community Medicine, and Public Health Sciences as well as CHPR, blindly selected the top three winners.
3rd Prize, an Apple Watch with wristband, went to undergraduate Olivia Patitucci for her video “I Properly Wear a Mask to Protect my Community.”
2nd Prize, a 64GB Apple iPad Air, went to staff members Lisa Wells, Stephanie Perla, Hector Amezcua and Caren Weintraub for their facebook post “Hay ewe! Wear your maaaaask.”
And the Grand Prize Winner of the 13-inch Apple Macbook Pro was Begum Kasap, a Ph.D. student in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, for her video and adaptation of the Irving Berlin song “Everybody’s doing it.”
All participants with valid entries received a specially designed UC Davis face covering.
Take a moment to check out these engaging winners, it will brighten your day. Congratulations to all UC Davis community members who participated in the contest!
